Becoming Overwelmed

There are times when pressures just seem to take control of us. However, I know if I turn it over to God, he will handle it for me, in just a way that is perfect for me. Now do I turn it over? That is up to me and I do try, when I remember to. Recently our family had a crisis that was very difficult to work through. For the first hour, it was all us, and how do we deal with this. After that my wife and I did turn things over to God. From there, we were guided to call a former Pastor of ours, and I contacted a diakonia graduate friend and through God’s hands, with the God’s driven guidance of others, we got the help that was needed. This is not a quick fix what we are going through, however, we both realize that we all will get through it. I am sure there is a message that we need to get from the crisis, but I also just wish God sometimes would make it a tad more clearer. Nothing happens with out reason. I know I can look to the Bible and it tells me so:

Ecclesiastes 3:1-7

A Time for Everything

1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:

2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

At times I really want to make sure I have all my plans in order, but then God tells me:

Proverbs 16:9
We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

So, even when I plan, he is going to determine what steps are needed for me to get there.

So, what I find works better is:
Be still
Wait
Listen

God will speak:

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, They are plans for the good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Take His plans and His steps and move in the direction that the Lord is leading, and all will be fine.
The key is to be still and listen. God does not always move as swiftly as we would like, but he moves as swiftly as is needed for His plans for us.
