{"id":1511,"date":"2016-04-06T19:33:52","date_gmt":"2016-04-07T00:33:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.messy-spirituality.com\/wordpress\/?p=1511"},"modified":"2016-04-06T19:33:52","modified_gmt":"2016-04-07T00:33:52","slug":"conflict","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.messy-spirituality.com\/wordpress\/2016\/04\/06\/conflict\/","title":{"rendered":"Conflict"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is very interesting that it seems so difficult for people, and at times I include myself in this, to follow the words of Jesus. \u00a0Jesus tells us just how to handle conflict, especially with other believers. \u00a0Yet, why is it that becomes so difficult to follow?<\/p>\n<p>I am not sure if is out of fear that people look to garner support rather than to deal with the issues at hand. \u00a0I really appreciate when I have had people approach me directly to raise concerns and questions. \u00a0It gives such an opportunity to have conversation, and conversation between two believers, where we keep the conversation Christ centered offers us something very special. \u00a0 In Matthew 18:20 Jesus says, &#8220;For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.&#8221; NRSV<\/p>\n<p>I have faith that Jesus speaks only the truth to us when he says those words. \u00a0If we cannot believe even this simple promise, how do we begin to live out the gospel of Jesus Christ in our lives, with each other?<\/p>\n<p>Jesus&#8217; words speaks more truth in dealing with conflict. \u00a0It is difficult to work with conflict if these words that Jesus speaks, cannot or will not be followed. Are His\u00a0words trustworth? \u00a0Do we trust what Jesus is telling us? \u00a0 From Matthew 18:15-17 (NRSV) ,\u00a0\u201cIf another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one. <sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>But if you are not listened to, take one or two others along with you, so that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses. <sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>If the member refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if the offender refuses to listen even to the church, let such a one be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.&#8221;\u00a0<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>My hope is that all people can follow Jesus&#8217; words to work through issues. \u00a0What does it hurt to sit down and have a conversation with someone? \u00a0If you cannot resolve it one on one, face to face or even with others prsent, have you really lost anything other than time? \u00a0Imagine coming together in Jesus&#8217; name, trusting that He will be present and in so, guide the conversation. \u00a0With Jesus in the middle, we\u00a0have nothing to lose and everything to gain!<\/p>\n<p>Finally sisters and brothers, here are some more words to live and love by from Jesus. \u00a0Matthew 18:21-22 (NRSV)\u00a0<sup>21 &#8220;<\/sup>Then Peter came and said to him, \u201cLord, if another member of the church sins against me, how often should I forgive?
