James 4:1-3 (TNIV) Today\u2019s New International Version<\/p>\n

1<\/sup>What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don\u2019t they come from your desires that battle within you? 2<\/sup>You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. 3<\/sup>When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Second Reading<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 Peter 5:4-11 (NLT) New Living Translation<\/p>\n

4\u00a0<\/sup>And when the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor.<\/p>\n

5\u00a0<\/sup>In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for<\/p>\n

\u201cGod opposes the proud<\/p>\n

but gives grace to the humble.\u201d<\/p>\n
