Jesus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Sunday, November 12, 2017 | After Pentecost<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Proper 27<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Year A<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Matthew 25:1-13<\/p>\n<p><strong>There is no video or audio for this sermon.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The foolish were short sighted.<br \/>\nThey thought of the moment, today not the future.<br \/>\nThey did not plan for the future.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/beginningandend.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Foolish-Virgings-Parable-Ten-Virgins-Explained-e1361384022400.jpg?resize=349%2C381\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/beginningandend.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Foolish-Virgings-Parable-Ten-Virgins-Explained-e1361384022400.jpg?resize=349%2C381\" width=\"349\" height=\"381\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">When we say and do things that are not focused on Jesus, then we fail to encounter Jesus.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We fail because we do not see Him, when he is standing in our midst.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">We will miss Him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">He will be there, but we will not see Him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Jesus tell us, all through the gospels how we can be in a relationship with Him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">We are told to get intiment with Jesus and stay intiment with Jesus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Get to know Jesus, be in relationship with Jesus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This is available for all, not some, not the ones dressed &#8220;right&#8221;, ones that use the right Bible, the correct Hymnal, that sing the right songs, hymns, light the candles<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>or whatever else that is used to seperate us from someone else, that seperates you from someone else.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Jesus encounters our hearts and soles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">When Jesus wrote on the ground in John 8, who did he stand with?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The woman accused of adultery or with the self-righteous?<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">When we draw a line in the sand between us and them, between you and someone else, I can tell you where Jesus is standing.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus stands with and encounters the least, the last, the lost.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>He stands with and they encounter the love and forgiveness of Jesus.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The line that separates, means Jesus encounters the other, not those that draw the line.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/choosetotrust.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/christ-and-the-woman-taken-in-adultery-1565-1.jpgBlog.jpg?resize=500%2C361&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"500\" height=\"361\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This congregation, this building, this land, the staff, the lights, the gas that heats, all that make up 3601 Dakota ave is for the other, not us.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The ministries are for the other, if the ministries stay, if they stay funded, if ministry is carried out as we are told by Jesus when he says, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Matthew 28:19<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">If we continue to draw the line in the sand against mission, against worship, against change, against anything, you name it, we turn into a chaplaincy congregation.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We turn inwards and care for our own and we will die.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>God will still be able to work with that and we will need to look at a future, I don&#8217;t think anyone here really wants<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft \" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/effectivechurch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/ChurchForSale.jpg?resize=366%2C298&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"366\" height=\"298\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">God can still work with this for ministry.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It is just may not be the ministry we may have had in mind.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Instead let&#8217;s look for ways for us to encounter Jesus by funding missions.\u00a0 By funding mission, we and others can continue to encounter Jesus in multiple ministries here.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">We encounter Jesus in baptism.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/radiopentecostesrd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/jesusyelespiritusanto-e1437066933615.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Forgiveness and life, which only comes through the love of Jesus, is given by God in baptism<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Confession and forgiveness in the name of Christ Jesus, keeps us intiment with Jesus. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Our encounter with Jesus in confession, is life giving.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Just like baptism&#8217;s and the encounter with Jesus is life giving.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">We need to be prepaired to support the missions of First Lutheran.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Here are just a few, just in case you did not read or remember October&#8217;s newsletter arcticle.<\/p>\n<p Christian Ed (VBS), Evangelism Ministry: supporting multiple other ministries, Dakota Co.
