God is powerful and can &#8220;wipe things out,&#8221; which can be both awe-inspiring and frightening \u2014 but God is righteous and keeps His promises.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 3. The Book of Enoch (ch. 10) reiterates warnings and God&#8217;s instructions to Noah \u2014 preparation and escape for the righteous.<\/p>\n<p>\u20224. God chose a different, lasting way to cleanse humanity: Jesus \u2014 through His coming, baptism, death on the cross, and the ongoing ministry of the Spirit.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 5. Spiritual practices: baptism as cleansing and commission (we are commanded to baptize nations), communion as repeated remembrance and ongoing cleansing, and foot washing as humble service to one another.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 6. Christians need continual cleansing and confession; baptism is important but life still requires regular repentance and reliance on Christ.<\/p>\n<p>Notable\u00a0Quotes<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0&gt;\u00a0&#8220;I\u00a0am\u00a0going\u00a0to\u00a0make\u00a0a\u00a0covenant\u00a0with\u00a0you.&#8221;\u00a0(God\u00a0\u2014\u00a0promise\u00a0after\u00a0the\u00a0flood)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0&gt;\u00a0&#8220;I&#8217;ve\u00a0got\u00a0another\u00a0plan\u00a0now&#8230;\u00a0I&#8217;m\u00a0coming\u00a0down\u00a0as\u00a0my\u00a0Son&#8230;\u00a0to\u00a0give\u00a0you\u00a0a\u00a0commandment&#8230;\u00a0baptize\u00a0the\u00a0nations.&#8221;\u00a0(God\/Jesus\u00a0as\u00a0the\u00a0different\u00a0way\u00a0of\u00a0cleansing)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0&gt;\u00a0&#8220;You\u00a0need\u00a0Jesus\u00a0to\u00a0be\u00a0clean.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0&gt;\u00a0&#8220;We\u00a0need\u00a0to\u00a0rely\u00a0upon\u00a0Jesus.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Application<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0Respond\u00a0to\u00a0God&#8217;s\u00a0command:\u00a0consider\u00a0baptism\u00a0(speaker\u00a0invited\u00a0anyone\u00a0not\u00a0baptized\u00a0to\u00a0come\u00a0forward).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0Practice\u00a0regular\u00a0confession\u00a0and\u00a0spiritual\u00a0cleansing\u00a0(before\u00a0communion,\u00a0after,\u00a0and\u00a0as\u00a0life\u00a0demands).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0Participate\u00a0in\u00a0communion\u00a0intentionally\u00a0to\u00a0remember\u00a0and\u00a0receive\u00a0Christ&#8217;s\u00a0cleansing\u00a0work.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0Embrace\u00a0humble\u00a0service\u00a0(foot\u00a0washing)\u00a0as\u00a0an\u00a0expression\u00a0of\u00a0love\u00a0and\u00a0care\u00a0for\u00a0one\u00a0another.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0Teach\u00a0and\u00a0baptize\u00a0others:\u00a0obey\u00a0the\u00a0call\u00a0to\u00a0share\u00a0and\u00a0enact\u00a0the\u00a0Gospel\u00a0practically\u00a0among\u00a0the\u00a0nations.<\/p>\n<p>Prayer\u00a0Points<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0Thanking\u00a0God\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0rainbow\u00a0and\u00a0His\u00a0covenant\u00a0of\u00a0mercy.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0Gratitude\u00a0that\u00a0God\u00a0remembers\u00a0His\u00a0covenant\u00a0and\u00a0sent\u00a0His\u00a0Son,\u00a0Jesus.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0Requests\u00a0for\u00a0help\u00a0to\u00a0rely\u00a0on\u00a0Jesus\u00a0for\u00a0cleansing\u00a0and\u00a0to\u00a0live\u00a0out\u00a0humble\u00a0service.<\/p>\n<p>Reflection\u00a0Questions<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a01.\u00a0When\u00a0you\u00a0think\u00a0of\u00a0God&#8217;s\u00a0power\u00a0(as\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0flood),\u00a0does\u00a0it\u00a0lead\u00a0you\u00a0to\u00a0worry\u00a0or\u00a0to\u00a0trust?\u00a0Why?<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 2.
