font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;\">:\u00a0 Pastor, I heard from someone today, that Jesus has freed us from the law and thus we can live as we please.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: 200%; tab-stops: .25in;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;\">Pastor<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;\">:\u00a0 Well Jacob, you are correct that Jesus has freed us from the law and in a sense, yes we can live as we please.\u00a0 However, I need to ask you something.\u00a0 Do you trust in God?\u00a0 Do you believe that God tells us the truth and that God loves us?<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: 200%; line-height: 200%;\">:\u00a0 Good Jacob, I am glad you have been paying attention to my sermons and recall this even back to Sunday school lessons.\u00a0 Martin Luther tells us in his writings, <em>The Freedom of a Christian<\/em>, that as a Christian, that even though we are lord of all and subject to none, we are also to be a \u201c\u2026perfectly dutiful servant of all, subject to all\u201d.<a title=\"\" name=\"_ednref1\" href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/Dougd\/Desktop\/Freedom%20of%20a%20Christian,%20Doug%20Dill.doc#_edn1\"><\/a><span class=\"MsoEndnoteReference\"><!--[if !supportFootnotes]--><span class=\"MsoEndnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;\">[i]<\/span><\/span><!--[endif]--><\/span>Luther looks to 1 Cor. 9:19, where it says \u201cFor though I am free with respect to all, I have made myself a slave to all\u2026\u201d<a title=\"\" name=\"_ednref2\" href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/Dougd\/Desktop\/Freedom%20of%20a%20Christian,%20Doug%20Dill.doc#_edn2\"><\/a><span class=\"MsoEndnoteReference\"><!--[if !supportFootnotes]--><span class=\"MsoEndnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;\">[ii]<\/span><\/span><!--[endif]--><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: 200%; tab-stops: .25in;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; Faith works<br \/>\ntruth and righteousness by giving God what belongs to him.<a title=\"\" name=\"_ednref5\" href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/Dougd\/Desktop\/Freedom%20of%20a%20Christian,%20Doug%20Dill.doc#_edn5\"><\/a><span class=\"MsoEndnoteReference\"><!--[if !supportFootnotes]--><span class=\"MsoEndnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;\">[v]<\/span><\/span><!--[endif]--><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: 200%; tab-stops: .25in;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;\">Luther also goes on to say with regard to good works and our soul (inner man),<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal; margin-left: .25in; tab-stops: .25in;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12.0pt;\">The inner man, who by faith is created in the image of God, is both joyful and happy because of Christ in whom so many benefits are conferred upon him; and therefore it is his one occupation to serve God joyfully and without thought of gain, in love that is not constrained.<a title=\"\" name=\"_ednref6\" href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/Dougd\/Desktop\/Freedom%20of%20a%20Christian,%20Doug%20Dill.doc#_edn6\"><\/a><span class=\"MsoEndnoteReference\"><!--[if !supportFootnotes]--><span class=\"MsoEndnoteReference\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;\">[vi]<\/span><\/span><!--[endif]--><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: 200%; tab-stops: .25in;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;\">Jacob:<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;\">\u00a0 Pastor, are you telling me that although I am free from the law and do not have to do works that I still have to do works.Because I trust in God, believe that Jesus freed me from the Law and sin.
