{"id":762,"date":"2014-01-18T17:06:27","date_gmt":"2014-01-18T23:06:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.messy-spirituality.com\/wordpress\/?p=762"},"modified":"2014-01-18T17:26:14","modified_gmt":"2014-01-18T23:26:14","slug":"mission-day-3-houston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.messy-spirituality.com\/wordpress\/2014\/01\/18\/mission-day-3-houston\/","title":{"rendered":"Mission, Day 3 &#8211; Houston"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I failed to mention this in the previous posts.\u00a0 Each day we start off with devotion to set the tone for the day.\u00a0 I lead the devotions and I do not have a laid out pattern for what will be read in the morning.\u00a0 I have just been letting the Spirit guide and guide it has.\u00a0 Each morning has had through \u201crandom\u201d picking of devotion material, relevance to what we have been doing each day!\u00a0 God is amazing when you do not refuse the help.\u00a0 God is amazing, when you are open to seeing God in action!\u00a0 Let\u2019s face it\u2026\u2026GOD IS AMAZING!!!!<\/p>\n<p>Day three is a little stressful for Travis and I.\u00a0 He has been sick since the beginning of the trip and now he is getting worse.\u00a0 His head cold that has now moved into his lungs, we are out of town and know no doctors around and need to seek out an urgent care.\u00a0 Upon going to Urgent care, we are having problems with the insurance and this is getting to be a nightmare for coverage not only for the doctor visit but for the medicine as well.\u00a0 Time to go pickup the group that I left at another mission site while we were at the doctor\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>I cannot speak to the experience at Crossroads today. I do encourage anyone reading this, to ask any of the students that are on the mission trip, for their perspectives of the Crossroads mission experience.<\/p>\n<p>Our next stop is Dabar Grill, an Indian &amp; Pakistani delight of food.\u00a0 Our lunch is again superb.\u00a0\u00a0 The multiple selections and the amounts are perfect.\u00a0 Some great dishes containing rice, curry and cheese.\u00a0 There is a homemade dessert, similar to an ice cream, serve on a stick in small paper cup.\u00a0 Now that we are full, it is time to head off to the Houston Food Bank.<\/p>\n<p>Each of us are assigned a variety of tasks to prepare food to be given out to those in need.\u00a0 Some of the food goes to schools, others right to the families.\u00a0 Time to wash up so we can begin our processing of food.\u00a0 Several are assigned to chopping broccoli and garlic.\u00a0 A couple is assigned to making corn bread.<\/p>\n<p>They take a couple of the young men\u2026.not me and David, to unload the trucks full of food.\u00a0 David and I get something very special.\u00a0 We get to cut open tubes after tubes after tubes after tubes of thawed ground beef.\u00a0 Yum Yum this is fun.
