Separation

As I start this blog, I contemplate the loss our family is going through now.  We are a split family for the time being.  My kids and I are living on campus at Wartburg Seminary, while my wife and the kids mother, continues to live in Illinois.  We are not separated but there is a great deal of separation in the family.  In order to maintain health insurance, my wife has stayed working at her place of employment in Illinois, while living with her brother.  She has been unable to find a job in Dubuque that will supply the health care insurance and make a reasonable salary.  So as I deal with long periods of not seeing and because of school, long periods of not talking to my wife, the kids do the same.  It has been hard on each of us in our own ways.

There has also been some positives to this as well.  The kids and I have much more time with each other and all of us are learning to split up the responsibilities of running the household.  I very much miss her and so do the kids.  At times you can see the tension but we all are looking forward to the day she either gets a job out here or comes here in June.
