Tooooooooo Busy

Some of you may know, I am on internship now.   Although I do not believe that the load is anyway too much, in fact it is light right now, but I manage to become still, that person distracted by shiny objects and  such find ways to be busy.  When this happens, I fail at putting Jesus first.

I have tried to make a practice and I realize that it takes at least 30 days to make a habit, but it is always something else that prevents me from getting into the sanctuary and spending just 15 minutes of time being in prayer and meditation.  Sometimes other things come up first but I need to make time then afterwards.

Yes, intentionally making time.  When I do, I find it so much more relaxing throughout the day.  I find clarity in my day.  Fortunately, as I preached last Sunday, God keeps coming to me, asking me to be with God.  At the same time, I feel awful not making the time, not doing what I preached.  On the other hand, I do try and I must hold solace in the fact that God’s love and grace are abundant enough despite my failures.

God, I ask in the name of your Son, that you forgive my selfishness and keep reaching for me.  I also ask this for all of those that experience the same that I do and want to change themselves for your sake.  I trust that all can be accomplished by You, through the Son and Holy Spirit.

Amen

Right there with ya, brother. So easy to let stuff get in the way. For example, I can tell you that my day usually seems to go much better when I make the effort to attend daily Mass before heading to work. However, in spite of such empirical evidence I seldom make daily Mass more than once a week.

In a couple of weeks I’ll begin participating in a two year program called “Ministry Formation” – my guess is that it is similar to your Diakonia program. Anyway, one thing I expect to get out of it is a little more discipline vis-a-vis keeping God first and foremost.

I pray for your continued spiritual growth and for you to have a wonderful, successful, and edifying intership.
