Baptism

October 11, 2026 Sermon Info Speaker / Pastor: Rev. Douglas Dill Scripture References Exodus 19–20 – reading of the covenant and the Ten Commandments, used to remind Israel of what God did and the expectations of covenant faithfulness. Matthew 5:17 – Jesus: “I have not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it,” used to connect the Old Covenant law with Christ’s work. Central Message Jesus fulfills the law and the prophets; we are saved by grace through his death and resurrection, and the Spirit now guides how we respond—primarily by loving God and loving our neighbor. Key Points Notable Quotes “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them.” (Matthew)“We are saved by grace.”“Love one another as Jesus first loved you.”“How do you live in Jesus today?” Application Choose love as the governing ethic: let “love God, love neighbor” shape moral choices rather than picking laws cafeteria-style.Follow the Spirit’s leading into concrete care for people in need (provide food, advocacy, accompaniment).Remember baptism as your identity in Christ: live from grace, not legalism.When you fail, seek forgiveness—Jesus covers sin through his death and resurrection.Keep Sabbath and care for creation, neighbor, and relationship with God as expressions of covenant faithfulness.
